The goal of this subject is to teach the students of correctly choosing textile materials for engineering high quality clothes. Students will learn about the principles of engineering clothes for special purposes such as protective clothes, sports-wear, children clothing and formal wear.
In lectures, students will learn how to evaluate the aesthetic, ergonomic, mechanical and physical characteristics of various textile materials and properly use them for specific needed garment qualities. Students will gain knowledge of heat transfer between human body and environment through clothes, or thermal conductivity (the 3K system). Thermo-physiological parameters of clothes and their evaluation and measurement methods will also be discussed. Studying thermal parameters of textile materials is important for engineering comfortable clothes that will have specific purposes, such as protective clothing or sportswear. Students will also learn how to engineer clothes that visually correct human body dimensions.
Through exercises and projects, students have practical assignment of engineering specific purpose clothes.
