New Season of the “NIS Calling” Programme – A New Internship Opportunity at NIS
Belgrade, October 2026
If you are a young person looking for an opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge into practice, we invite you to take advantage of this opportunity. As a socially responsible company, NIS is launching the 11th season of its “NIS Calling” programme, once again giving young people with no prior work experience a chance to take their first career steps and gain valuable knowledge in the oil industry. This season, internships will again be offered in key business roles, and applications are open until November 8. All interested candidates can apply via the following link.
“NIS Calling” is a paid, flexible internship programme intended for final-year students, master’s students, students who have completed their coursework but have not yet graduated, and graduates of the Faculty of Mining and Geology, School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Technical Faculty “Mihajlo Pupin”, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, and other related faculties.
The programme allows participants to balance their work assignments with exam periods and personal commitments. It includes a workload equivalent to five months, which can be distributed flexibly over a six-month period. Participants will also receive support from mentors throughout the programme, work on real projects, attend various training sessions, and take part in field visits. The internships will take place in Belgrade, Pančevo, Novi Sad, Elemir, and Smederevo. The programme begins on January 15, and participants may have the opportunity to secure employment at NIS upon completion. This season, 20 participants will take part in the internship programme.
This season of the “NIS Calling” internship programme also offers additional professional support for young people through “Calling Support”. This initiative includes information calls during the selection process and educational workshops for all applicants, ensuring that even candidates who are not selected can access training that may be valuable for their future career development.
Milan Milenković, Head of the Rail Transport Base at NIS, is one of the mentors in the “NIS Calling” programme. He himself took part in a similar internship programme at the company. Milan believes that this type of programme is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain their first work experience in a large and complex organisation such as NIS.
“Over a short period, participants become familiar with business processes across the entire company through a variety of activities and visits to different locations. The mentoring plan is designed to introduce interns to the fundamentals of every activity involved in our operations. We have organised the activities so that all colleagues are available to the participants at any time, and we go through each stage step by step, including both administrative tasks and fieldwork,” said Milan Milenković.
